A heckler was ejected from Bill Cosby's stand-up show in Canada on Thursday (08Jan15) after branding the comedian a "rapist".

The Cosby Show star chose to plough on with his planned comedy tour despite being engulfed in a sexual abuse scandal, in which more than 20 women have accused him of decades-old inappropriate behaviour, and he has faced groups of protesters outside venues.

His show at the Budweiser Gardens venue in London, Ontario was briefly halted on Thursday after a heckler stood up in the audience and shouted "You are a rapist".

The man was hauled from the auditorium by security guards and Cosby urged the crowd to remain calm. Once the heckler had been ejected, the comedian continued the show without disturbance and received a standing ovation at the end.

After the performance, Cosby thanked fans in a statement, which reads, "Dear Fans: One outburst but over 2,600 loyal, patient and courageous fans enjoyed the most wonderful medicine that exist for human-kind. Laughter.

"I thank you, the theatre staff (Budweiser Gardens), the event organisers and the London, ON Community for your continued honour and support. I'm far from finished."
