The REVEREND AL GREEN has been forced to cancel a concert on Saturday night (19AUG06) celebrating former US President Bill Clinton's 60th birthday in Little Rock, Arkansas, because of an intense heatwave. The concert also marked the 10th anniversary of the city's River Market district in the state's capitol. The 60-year-old singer was scheduled to perform at the Riverfest Amphitheatre when organisers decided that it would be dangerous to go ahead with the concert in the hot conditions. According to the JIM RICE, chief operating officer of the Little Rock Convention + Visitors Bureau, "It became clear to us that the summer heat was playing havoc with our event. "Al Green was gracious enough to accommodate our new date." The temperatures have topped 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) daily for much of the last four weeks. The concert has been re-scheduled for 27 October (06).
