The estate of Big Pun has announced plans to launch a new line of T-shirts honouring the late rapper, in a bid to raise funds for his struggling family.

Big Pun, real name CHRISTOPHER RIOS, made impact as the first Latino rapper to sell platinum, before suddenly dying in 2000 from heart complications.

His widow LISA has complained in the past that she has only received $8,000 (GBP4,400) in royalty money since the rapper died. Her efforts to auction off his gold, diamond studded Terror Squad chain earlier this year (04) failed when the minimum bid of $100,000 (GBP55,000) wasn't met, reports AllHipHop.com.

According to a statement made on the family's behalf, Big Pun's widow is struggling to take care of the three children they had together and meet mortgage payments, among other expenses.

Proceeds generated from donations will go to the rapper's immediate family.
