Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack housemates John Loughton and Anthony Ogogo were allowed a taste of home by hijacker Chris Moyles.
After the housemates had enjoyed a pub quiz, John, Captain of the winning team, had been invited by the Radio 1 DJ to share a pint in the secret bar.
And the young politician was rewarded for his trivia triumph by being granted a three-minute phone call to his mother.
The 20-year-old Edinburgh man called his family but was careful to save one of his allotted minutes for Anthony.
After emerging from the diary room, John told his fellow contestants he'd been given a "wee present" by Moyles.
Struggling to hold back The Tears after speaking to his mother, John then sprang another surprise on the group by revealing he had saved time for Anthony to call his mother and sister.
The boxing hopeful went into the bedroom to use the telephone, saying: "Mum, I've only got thirty seconds, how is everyone? I miss you so much, I love you."
The 19-year-old followed John's lead and burst into tears, with the chairman of the Scottish Youth Parliament then giving him a hug and telling him, "you deserved it".
Moyles also gave young musician Calista Robertson some career advice, after which she called the Leeds disc jockey "wicked".
She said Moyles had told her: "You're really talented, you could go down either the singing or the writing route."
She added: "He was really enthusiastic, and he said he wouldn't say it if he didn't mean it."
