Beyonce Knowles' new flick The Fighting Temptations has performed worse than analysts expected - it's second-place position has now been pushed down a spot to number three.

Figures released on Sunday (21SEP03) had estimated that the gospel movie, which also OSCAR-winner Cuba Gooding JR, had taken in $13.2 million (GBP8 million) at the American box office on its opening weekend, with KATE BECKINSALE's sci-fi film Underworld opening at number one with $22 million (GBP13.4 million).

But an official count has found that the film only earned $11.8 million (GBP7.3 million), now putting it a spot below Michael Caine and Robert Duvall's movie Secondhand Lions, which hauled in $12.1 million (GBP7.5 million).

Bosses at Paramount, which distributed the Destiny's Child frontwoman's film, were more than 10 per cent optimistic with their forecasts.
