Beyonce is set to return to the stage for the first time since giving birth to her daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The R&B superstar will perform at three shows in New Jersey in May at Atlantic City's Revel Resorts, according to the Associated Press.

A spokesman for Revel said on Monday (March 19, 2012) that the shows will be held over Memorial Day weekend for the opening of the $2.4 billion resort. Tickets for the shows on May 25-27 go on-sale April 9 2012 - Beyonce will play the Ovation Hall, which seats around 5,050 fans. The singer gave birth to her first child with Jay Z in January 2012 and it was not expected that she would return to the stage so soon after the birth. Some reports had suggested the singer would be taking it easy for the majority of the year before starting work on some new material, but it appears she is keen to return to live duties. She released her fourth album '4' in June 2011, with the record going platinum in the United States. Announcing the new shows, a spokesman for Revel said, "Beyoncé getting back to business live on stage at Revel. Three exclusive shows with the unstoppable star at the brand new beachfront resort".

The entertainment resort, hotel, casino and spa has been under construction for a number of years. The complex boasts 14 restaurants, two nightclubs, six pools and three live music venues.
