Beyonce Knowles has handed over her pay cheque from new movie CADILLAC RECORDS - to aid the recovering drug addicts who helped her become troubled blues great Etta James in the film.
The clean-cut singer had no idea how to play a drug abuser in the movie - about the birth of Chess Records - and so she spent a day with addicts at New York's Phoenix House recovery centre.
Knowles admits she was deeply touched by the women she met and moved by their stories of hardship - and now she's digging deep to help their recovery.
Cadillac Records director Darnell Martin has revealed his star is handing over big bucks to Phoenix House, and the centre's spokeswoman Karen Sodomick tells Giant magazine the star will also donate her time.
She explains, "She and her mom suggested cosmetology for our skills-training program. We're working with them now to make it happen."
