The Drunk in Love singer released her surprise new solo effort last weekend (23Apr16) during a TV special in America.

It became available immediately on her husband Jay Z's streaming service Tidal, and was subsequently released on other digital sites.

Fans snapped up 576,000 copies of the album to make Lemonade the biggest sales of any album in 2016. Beyonce also becomes the only artist to reach number one with their first six studio albums.

Beyonce's new album also topped the U.K. charts on Friday (29Apr16).

Prince dominates the rest of the top five - the late superstar's The Very Best of Prince greatest hits collection falls a spot to number two, the Purple Rain soundtrack comes in third, and Prince's The Hits/The B-Sides is fourth.
