Co-creators of the hit musical MAMMA MIA! and ex- ABBA stars ULVAEUS and BENNY ANDERSSON are suing the producers of a smaller-scale tribute touring show of the same name.
Producers of the $145.8 million (GBP81 million)-grossing show want the tribute concert to change its name and have accused it of infringing their trademarks.
The modest tribute show pre-dates the West End, London smash hit by two years - as it has been running since 1997.
MIKE TAYLOR of MAMMA MIA! - THE CONCERT says, "It's a DAVID and GOLIATH battle.
"I've owned the website (WWW.MAMMAMIA.CO.UK) since 1999 but I haven't got the money to challenge them.
"It's in the hands of my lawyers now but we've no plans to come to the West End and we've always made clear that ours is a concert - a tribute show - and is separate from the West End musical."06/07/2004 13:55
