British cinemas have axed Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's new movie Gigli, after a pathetic performance at the box office.

Seventy theatres agreed to screen the MARTIN BREST-directed comedy from last Friday (26SEP03) - but they have sold so few seats not one will show the film for a second week.

Embarrassingly, ticket sales over the opening weekend (26-28SEP03) were so bad, the movie failed to make the box office top 15 compiled by movie magazine SCREEN INTERNATIONAL, and was even beaten by children's animated movie RUGRATS GO WILD - which has already been on release for eight weeks.

Sources are blaming the critical mauling Gigli received from both sides of the Atlantic.
