Veteran Pop Star Belinda Carlisle Is Set To Undergo Surgery On Both Of Her Hips.
The Circle in the Sand hitmaker, 56, reveals she will have her first operation on Tuesday (31Mar15) and return to hospital for a second procedure on her other hip in late April (15).
Carlisle confirmed the news to fans via Twitter on Monday (30Mar15), writing, "Yes, surgery on the first hip tomorrow and hip#2 in 3 weeks - thank you for your kind messages".
The news emerges weeks after the singer returned home from a two-month trip to India, where she embarked on a mammoth 1,135-mile (1,827-kilometre) rickshaw ride across the country to boost funds for her animal charity.
The former the Go-Go's star raised $15,000 (£9,375) for the Animal People Alliance (APA), an initiative she co-founded to set up shelters for neglected animals in Asia, and she is now hoping to turn the rickshaw rally into an annual event.
She says, "We're gonna make that an annual thing and auction off seats on the rickshaws. It was the most fun I've ever had and I wanna do it every single year."
