Jazz trumpeter IAN HAMER has died after a heart attack at his home in Sussex, England. He was 73. The musician, who passed away on Sunday (03SEP06), was much-loved as a composer and arranger as well as a performer, and worked with jazz legend TUBBY HAYES - famously arranging NIGHT IN TUNISIA for the acclaimed saxophonist. He also worked with a string of stars including THE Beatles and Barbra Streisand in sessions. Hamer, born in Liverpool, north-west England, is survived by two daughters and one son.
