Rockers Beady Eye have scrapped their performances at Britain's V Festival to allow guitarist Gem Archer time to recover from a serious head injury.
The former Oasis star was hospitalised last week (01Aug13) after suffering severe head trauma in a mystery accident.
Archer's bandmates scrapped a show in Belgium on Monday (05Aug13) and a second concert scheduled for this coming weekend (10-11Aug13) in Japan, but until Thursday (08Aug13), the band's appearances at the V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire in England later this month (17-18Aug13) were still a go.
On Wednesday (07Aug13), a spokesman for the two-site weekend event assured fans, "Unless we hear otherwise they're still playing."
But now it appears the group will not be performing.
A statement posted on the band's website on Thursday (08Aug13) reads: "Beady Eye regret to announce that they are cancelling their performance at V Festival and their remaining scheduled shows and promotional commitments in August due to guitarist Gem Archer suffering severe head trauma after an accident on August 1st.
"The band apologise to fans but under the circumstances feel they can not perform without Gem and want to focus on supporting him throughout his recovery."
The statement continues: "Gem was released from hospital yesterday evening and is recovering at home though remains under observation."
