A British man who falsely claimed to own the rights to hit U.S. TV series Baywatch is facing up to 50 years in jail and a $1 million (GBP500,000) fine. Fifty-three-year-old David William Port admitted to a court in Kansas City, Kansas, on Tuesday (03Jul07) he defrauded investors in the U.K. and America out of $360,000 (GBP180,000). Port told investors his company, PCG Media, had been in talks with the show's star David Hasselhoff, had won merchandising rights with Coca Cola and MCDonald's, and were poised to take over the Planet Hollywood chain with their Baywatch-themed restaurants. Port was extradited from the U.K. earlier this year (07) in order to face the charges in Kansas City.
