LATEST: An Indian court has rejected novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford's charge of plagiarism against a local television channel.

Bradford accused SAHARA TELEVISION of plagiarising three of her blockbuster books in it's $13 million (GBP8 million) series KARISHMA - THE MIRACLES OF DESTINY which aired in May (03).

But the case was thrown out of court yesterday (22JUL03), leaving the series free to return to Indian TV.

The English writer's lawyer SAM MANDAL says, "The court also passed an order for us to pay costs and damages. We estimate it to be about two million rupees ($43,000)."

Bradford has now appealed to India's Supreme Court against the High Court ruling and the case is scheduled to be heard on Friday (25JUL03).
