Axl Rose would appear to be getting inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - whether he wants to or not! Rose and the rest of GUNS N' ROSES have long been known to be getting accepted into the Hall, which is traditionally a prestigious achievement and one that will see them join the likes of Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Curtis Mayfield, Led Zeppelin and many more.
Rose though isn't keen on it, and issued a statement to the media last night, reported by NME, that said "This decision is personal. This letter is to help clarify things from my and my camp's perspective. Neither is meant to offend, attack or condemn. Though unfortunately I'm sure there will be those who take offence (God knows how long I'll have to contend with the fallout), I certainly don't intend to disappoint anyone, especially the fans, with this decision."
Continuing, he added "Since the announcement of the nomination we've actively sought out a solution to what, with all things considered, appears to be a no win, at least for me, 'damned if I do, damned if I don't' scenario all the way around. In regard to a reunion of any kind of either the Appetite. or Illusion. line-ups, I've publicly made myself more than clear. Nothing's changed." However, the Hall of Fame have replied to this with a curt statement of their own, simply saying "We are sorry Axl will not be able to accept his induction in person." With other 'Roses members Duff MCkagan, Steven Adler, Slash and Matt Sorum all likely to attend too, it looks like Rose is set to become a most reluctant member of the Hall of Fame!
