'Goodbye Lullaby' hitmaker Avril likes 'Tik Tok' singer Kesha's lyrics, and finds pop stars like her and Katy Perry "cute".
She said: "Their music's fun. They're cute. Kesha has some really funny lyrics that remind me of how light and playful my lyrics are in 'Girlfriend'. It reminds me of me."
Avril, now 26, broke into the mainstream aged 17 with her 2002 single 'Complicated' and has been in the public spotlight ever since. However, she said she'd never dreamed of becoming a megastar, and has managed to stay at the top through dedication to her career.
She added: "I just wanted to sing in front of people. I came from nothing, a tiny Canada town with no connections. I'm here because I worked hard."
When then asked about what she misses about her hometown, Avril named a particular pizza restaurant.
She said: "Just the pizza place. I mentioned La Pizzeria when I was on my first cover of Rolling Stone, and it's ended up being a place where fans go. They have a special Avril Lavigne pizza there. And I eat free for life!"
