Brooklyn's We Are Augustines have announced more live dates in the UK for February and March today following their sold out show at the Borderline last week. The band, who are currently supporting The Maccabees in Europe return to the UK for a few dates following a quick journey home to New York to perform their US Network TV debut as guests on David Letterman's Late Show on February 24th.
With Valentine's Day now in sight, We Are Augustines have also released a behind the scenes video filmed and edited by Brendon Stuart and Shelby Miller of the making of their 'Chapel Song' single that will be released on 27th February via Oxcart Records.
The video, directed by Matthew.C.Mills was shot on location outside The Gutter Bar & Bowling Alley in Brooklyn, NY with no electric lights or flex-fills used, relying on
available sunlight only. In the director's own words:
"The very first time I heard 'Chapel Song' by We Are Augustines, I knew it was the perfect tune for this little lovefest of a video. 'Chapel Song' is about lost love. Billy (McCarthy) and I had lengthy conversations about the song and its meaning/s. My interpretation is much happier and I feel like the music video adds a shimmer of hope when juxtaposed against the darker lyrics. Many thanks to our kissing couples, the band and the award-winning crew who graciously volunteered their time to make this vision a reality."
Speaking on the outcome, co-writer and bass player Eric Sanderson was happy to see this snogfest work out from conception:
"To be honest I was a little nervous about the video at first. I couldn't quite see it in my head but we had a lot of meetings with Matthew and really trusted his commitment. On the day of the shoot everything went incredibly well. The weather let up for the day and a spring feeling was certainly in the air. Everyone that came down for the shoot was amazing. A lot of the decisions were made on the spot and nothing was really forced. I think my favourite part of the video is how the sun comes out right when Billy sings "tear up the photograph cause it's a bright blue sky". That was totally unplanned and so perfect. That really shows the kind of project this was."
'Chapel Song', released on 27th February leads the band's debut album 'Rise Ye Sunken Ships' scheduled for release on March 5th via Oxcart Records.
