Rockers Audioslave have followed a triumphant tip to Cuba and a mindblowing
free show on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles by topping the US album
The cult act, made up of former members of Soundgarden and RAGE AGAINST
THE MACHINE, knocked fellow LA rockers System Of A Down off the top of the
charts with second album OUT OF EXILE.
More than 263,000 copies of the CD were sold in its opening week.
Meanwhile, Chicago, Illinois rapper Common earns his highest position on
the album chart and best sales week to date with BE, which debuts at number two
on the new chart with 185,000 sales.
Other new entries in the top 10 are animated hip-hop group Gorillaz, who
debut at six with DEMON DAYS, and South African rockers Seether, who take their
KARMA + EFFECT album to number eight.
The chart's greatest gainer is Simon Cowell's operatic quartet Il Divo,
whose self-titled debut jumps from 21 to number nine.
