A specially-made Aston Martin sports car from the recent James Bond movie Spectre has sold at a charity auction for just under £2.5 million.

The DB10 model, one of only two “show cars” from 10 that were custom-made for the blockbuster, easily made its reserve price of £1 million and eventually sold for £2,434,500 at a special charity auction at Christie’s London King Street on Thursday.

Manufactured in Warwickshire, eight of the ten cars were used to film the car chase scene through the streets of Rome in Spectre, while two were left untouched for display and promotional purpose.

When you’re driving around in a bright pink, £500 Vauxhall Corsa, the last thing that you want to do is to slam your bright pink Corsa right into the side of a sleek, black, highly expensive Aston Martin. Sadly, for the owner of one bright pink Vauxhall Corsa, who was driving around in Swindon yesterday, that is exactly what happened.

The driver of the Corsa reportedly lost control of the car at a roundabout, just after driving out of the Esso garage. The car went careering onto the petrol station forecourt and ploughed straight into the side of the James-Bond style sports car, leaving the owner fearing that it may be a write-off. “She drove out of the petrol station onto the roundabout, lost it, and came over the kerb and came straight into the car,” said the owner of the Aston Martin, who wished to remain anonymous. “My car moved into the pump and bumped the pump off. It will be a write-off. They won’t fix that.”

It certainly makes for a sorry sight, the bright and cheerful pink Corsa, with its nose stuck in the side of the £180,000 luxury vehicle.
