Actress Asia Argento is amused that film audience regard her a trashy actress - because she's actually a member of Italian aristocracy.

Argento is familiar to European cinema-goers for her edgy roles, particular playing a teenage mother in THE HEART IS ABOVE ALL THINGS DECEITFUL, which she directed herself.

But the 29 year old plays a countess in Sofia Coppola's new movie MARIE ANTOINETTE - and she insists she's a countess in real life.

Argento - whose father is cult horror director Dario Argento and mother, actress DARIA NICOLODI - says, "I'm France they call me trash, but they don't know that I come from an aristocratic family.

"I'm constantly playing these trashy characters, but I'm actually a countess."
