Ashton Kutcher was one of the first celebrities to use Twitter when the microblogging site exploded onto the internet in the summer of 2006, but the site which ultimately gave him leverage over many others in Hollywood when it came to communicating with his fans has proved his downfall. This week the star of course made a gaffe when leaping to the defence of the sacking of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno - only to subsequently find out he was tied to a child sex scandal, hence his dismissal.
A mortified Kutcher has now handed over his Twitter account 'aplusk' to his management having apologised for the mistake. The UK's Daily Mirror reports that Kutcher posted a link to his blog on the networking site, which subsequently read "It seems that today Twitter has grown into a mass publishing platform, where one's tweets quickly become news that is broadcast around the world and misinformation becomes volatile fodder for critics . I am truly sorry. And moreover am going to take action to ensure that it doesn't happen again."
While Kutcher's watching over his internet activities though, it's been his more dubious escapades that are plunging his marriage with Demi Moore into crisis. The UK's Sun snapped her looking ever more frail and gaunt in the wake of the Sara Leak saga, a woman who claims to have slept with the 'Two And A Half Men' star on his wedding anniversary. Leal spoke publically about the tryst, saying "The last thing I remember him saying was he did a good job. We woke up and I was wearing a robe. He opened it up and I was like, 'What are you doing?' He was like, 'Just checking. OK, I did good! You're really pretty.'"
