The Saturday night signing contest is the brain child of Take That frontman Gary Barlow, and follows his quest to find a cast of young actors to star in stage musical The Band, based around Take That’s songs.

Former Pussycat Doll Ashley will act as a guest judge for the semi-final stage of the competition on 18 February (17), joining Gary, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp on the judging panel.

“I’m beyond excited to be joining Let It Shine and taking a judging seat beside the brilliant Gary, beautiful Dannii and handsome Martin,” she gushed in a statement. “I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences of being in a band and I can’t wait to see what surprises the boys have in store for their live semi-final performances!”

Ashley follows in the footsteps of Glee star Amber Riley and Scottish singer Lulu as a guest judge. Before the blonde takes her seat on the panel, legendary American talk show host Ricki Lake will be offering her views. She joins the show for the first live show on Saturday (11Feb17), which will see the remaining boys, split into different bands, battle it out to continue in the competition.

“I am super excited to be a guest judge on Let it Shine! I love musicals and this is a fantastic show,” Ricki exclaimed. "I was only 18 when I won the role of the original Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray so I can’t wait to share some of my own experiences with the boys.”

Gary is keeping the name of the final guest judge under wraps for now.
