Ashlee Simpson finally redeemed her vocal reputation when she sang on Saturday Night Live without incident this weekend (08OCT05).

The brave singer returned to the hit US comedy show a year after she was criticised for miming to the wrong song on the show last year, while a pre-recorded version of her hit PIECES OF ME was played.

But her latest performance was a huge success, and the 21-year-old smiled, blew kisses and hopped with relief when it was over.

In a specially-written track called CATCH ME WHEN I FALL, inspired by the TV fiasco, Simpson sang, "Who will be the one to save me from myself?

"Who's going to catch me when I fall?"

She returned to the stage later in the programme to showcase another hit, BOYFRIEND, in which she was accompanied by a backup singer.
