As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has pleaded not guilty to charges he attempted to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife.
The Christian rocker was taken into custody in Oceanside, California on Tuesday (07May13) after reportedly soliciting help from an undercover detective. He was charged with one count of solicitation to commit murder and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime, and was booked in the Vista Detention Facility.
At a court arraignment on Thursday (09May13), San Diego County Superior Court Judge Martin Staven set bail at $3 million (£1.9 million) and ruled that Lambesis must wear a Gps monitor and stay away from his wife and their three adopted children upon his release from jail.
Lambesis' wife filed for divorce in September (13), claiming her husband had become emotionally distant and was preoccupied with bodybuilding, touring and tattoos.
In court, Deputy District Attorney Claudia Grasso revealed the rock star sent his wife an email in which he declared he no longer loved her or believed in God.
Grasso said Lambesis gave the deputy posing as a hitman $1,000 (£645) and the address of his wife's home and the computer code to the front door.
The rocker will be back in court for a readiness hearing on 10 June (13), while a preliminary hearing has been set for 10 July (13).
