Arun Nayar and Elizabeth Hurley did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement before their wedding ceremonies in India and Britain in 2007, meaning the couple's now imminent divorce could see the textile tycoon take a considerable chunk of Hurley's £13 million fortune, according to the UK's Daily Mail.
The 45-year-old actress announced on Sunday (12th December 2010) that her marriage to Nayar was over, and recent allegations printed in the 'News of The World' have suggested that she has begun a relationship with the Australian cricketer SHANE WARNE, who has also announced a split from his wife. Speaking to followers on her Twitter page on Sunday, Hurley said, "Thank you for all your very, very nice messages x". Although Nayar comes from a wealthy family in India, it has been suggested that much of his finances rely on future inheritance, and Hurley's wealth is said to far exceed his own. The actress is the sole owner of the couple's £4.3 million farmhouse in Gloucestershire, and she also co-owns a £2.5 million Chelsea townhouse with ex-boyfriend Hugh Grant.
A source close to Nayar revealed, "A pre-nup would have been a deal-breaker for Arun. He has his pride". However, London divorce lawyer AYESHA VARDAG said, "He would be very unlikely to get half Miss Hurley's fortune because her assets were mainly acquired before their marriage".
