Former movie action man-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has opened discussions about legalising marijuana in the state.
The Terminator star insists he's not ready to give pot users and sellers a pass to get high, but he accepts the time is right for an official debate on the drug issue - because it could aid the state's financial crisis.
Schwarzenegger says, "I think all those ideas of creating extra revenues, I'm always for an open debate on it.
"I think we ought to study very carefully what other countries are doing that have legalised marijuana and other drugs; what effect did it have on those countries?"
California legislators legalised the drug for medical use in 1996.
