California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has ignored a last ditch effort to keep jailed murderer CLARENCE RAY ALLEN alive, insisting the killer deserves to die.

The TERMINATOR star refused to even comment about his decision not to grant Allen clemency when he ignored similar pleas last month (DEC05) from the prisoner's lawyers.

But, in a statement on Friday (13JAN06), the former movie star said, "Allen's jury reasonably concluded that life in prison was not the appropriate punishment for someone who orders the killing of witnesses while already serving a term of life in prison."

Allen was convicted in 1977 of arranging the 1974 murder of his son's girlfriend. While serving a life sentence at Folsom State Prison, he paid convict BILLY RAY HAMILTON to kill eight people who had testified against him. Hamilton was caught after murdering three names on vengeful Allen's list.

Wheelchair bound Allen, 75, who is legally blind and suffers from diabetes, will become the oldest person on modern public record to be executed in California when he is put to death on Tuesday (17JAN06).

Allen's lawyers claim their client is too old and frail to be killed by lethal injection.

Schwarzenegger has now rejected four clemency requests during his term in office.
