Actor-turned-wannabe politician Arnold Schwarzenegger is desperately trying to sever links between him and animal rights campaigners PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS (PETA) - in a row over milk.

According to American gossip site THE SCOOP, the Terminator 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES star, who announced his plans to run for Governor of California last week (7AUG03), is attempting to remove a quote he made in documentary PUMPING IRON, claiming "milk is for babies" from PETA's website.

According to the site, Schwarzenegger's representatives claim the line was uttered in a movie, so it should not be attributed to him - but PETA insist the film was a bodybuilding documentary and the only "character" Schwarzenegger was playing was himself

A source close to the group says, "That quote has been up for a long time and we suspect that they're just trying to get it removed now because he doesn't want to upset the dairy industry. It's utterly ridiculous, so to speak."
