The actor portrayed the titular cyborg in 1984's original The Terminator and reprised his role in the 1991 sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Terminator 3: Rise of the MAChines, in 2003 and he is proud of his work in the popular trilogy.

Schwarzenegger says, "The three that I was in, they all three had their own personalities and interesting storylines..."

He did not return for Christian Bale's Terminator Salvation in 2009, as he was serving as Governor of California, so director MCG used CGI (computer-generated imagery) to recreate his appearance onscreen in the fourth instalment - a movie which failed to replicate the box office success of the first three films.

And Schwarzenegger was among those lambasting the movie, telling U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America, "Thank God (I wasn't in it). It sucked!"

The actor has since returned to the Terminator franchise for the upcoming Terminator Genisys.
