Arnold Schwarzenegger is having surgery on his shoulder in the same hospital as Sylvester Stallone.

The 64-year-old actor suffered some damage to his right shoulder while filming his latest movies and by coincidence his fellow action star was at the same medical centre to undergo a similar operation.

In a post on his WhoSay.com account, Arnold wrote: "After all the action, stunts & physical abuse shooting The Expendables 2 and The Last Stand, it was time for a little tune up on my shoulder. Look who was coincidentally waiting in line behind me for his shoulder surgery. Now we're ready for another round of great times and action when we shoot The Tomb. #greattobeback (sic)"

The former champion bodybuilder also posted a picture of the two legendary tough guys lying in hospital beds side-by-side.

Arnold only recently returned to acting after leaving his position as the Governor of California in 2011.

The two actors battled to be the biggest action star of the 80s each starring in a string of blockbusters, with Schwarzenegger appearing in the 'Terminator' franchise, 'Predator' and 'The Running Man' and Stallone in the 'Rocky' and 'Rambo' movies.

The pair both star in 'The Expendables 2', which is released in August, and in their next joint project 'The Tomb' sees them have to break out of an inescapable high-tech prison.
