Aretha Franklin's biopic is back in business after movies bosses decided Broadway star Audra McDonald is the perfect choice to the play the Queen of Soul, according to U.S. reports.
The Respect hitmaker revealed in January (12) that actors Halle Berry, Kerry Washington and Nia Long were on her "wish list" to portray her in a big screen adaptation of her colourful life.
The project ran into difficulties in March (12) after Franklin and producers entered into a "Mexican stand-off" over who would play the singer and members of her family.
However, despite the issues, Franklin has decided she wants Tony Award-winner MCDonald for the lead role, and is keen to sign her up, according to The Detroit News.
The movie will be based on the soul icon's 1999 autobiography, From These Roots.
