Aretha Franklin had a wardrobe malfunction at the White House on Saturday night (01.12.12).
The 'Respect' hitmaker managed to remain cool, calm and collected after the upper half of her pink dress, complete with an encrusted white beaded bodice, slipped down to her waist and exposed her assets as she was about to enter a reception for the 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington.
The singer's representative said she exposed ''her foundation-wearing girls in all their Victoria's Secret glory''.
When asked what happened during the incident, she wrote in an email to Showbiz411: ''I don't know! Dresser must not have zipped it all the way up or hooked it at top! Zipper slid down!!! I did not panic! (sic)''
Following the unfortunate incident, the 70-year-old singer and her escort carried on before moving into a tented area to adjust her gown and continue with the evening.
President Barack Obama and the First Lady, Michelle Obama, were present at the event along with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a number of showbiz stars including Hollywood legend Dustin Hoffman, talk show host David Letterman and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones.
Aretha isn't the only star to have suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction this year.
Salma Hayek nearly suffered a similar fate last month when she squeezed herself into a tiny pink dress at the Acapulco Film Festival in Hollywood, and Jennifer Lopez came close to suffering a wardrobe malfunction at the Academy Awards in February. Audience members spotted the tape she was using to preserve her modesty in a low cut gown as she took to the stage in a to present the Oscar for Best Costume Design.
