Generous BLUE singer Antony Costa turned down the offer of a free box for his family to watch his first solo gig and insisted on paying $1,900 (GBP1,000) for the tickets.
The IF YOU COME BACK hitmaker, 23, joined THE Brand New Heavies, CHRISSIE HYNDE, Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall, Roisin Murphy and Alison Moyet at the REFUGEE VOICES FOR DARFUR concert at London's Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday (08DEC04).
After being offered a 12-seater box overlooking the stage, Costa insisted he would pay for the prestigious seats rather than deprive the charity of money.
A friend says, "There was no way Antony would have accepted free tickets. He wanted to do his bit for charity and give his friends and family a fun night out."
Government forces and Arab militia have been fighting ethnic minority rebels in the troubled Darfur region of Sudan since February 2003, leaving towns destroyed, families ripped apart and many dead. Over 1.4 million people have been left homeless.10/12/2004 13:34
