Lu Parker, the broadcast journalist and former Miss USA, has broken up with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, according to her publicist. Juliette Harris told the Los Angeles Times that Parker had ended her relationship with the politician back in May.
The statement read, “I can confirm that Lu Parker ended her three-year committed relationship with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as of May 25”. Parker – who was also a previous Miss South Carolina – has rarely been seen with Villaraigosa in recent weeks. Her last public appearance with the Mayor came when she walked the red carpet with him at an event celebrating California’s ties with Great Britain on April 20. The Mayor has repeatedly declined to answer questions concerning the status of his relationship in recent weeks, dubbing one Times’ reporter an “idiot” for asking. He discussed his previous marriage to Corina Villaraigosa during an appearance at Loyola Marymount University last week, though when quizzed about Parker simply replied, “My personal life isn’t any of your business any more than yours is mine”.
The couple began dating in 2009, two years after the Mayor broke up with Mirthala Salinas – a television news reporter on Telemundo’s Spanish language KVEA-TV Channel 52. Parker eventually moved into the Getty House, registering to vote there in December 2010.
