SIR Anthony Hopkins has abandoned any ambitions he had to become a director, because acting is easier and more exciting.

The Welsh-born star decided to stick to acting while shooting The World's Fastest Indian with director Roger Donaldson.

He says, "I used to kid myself I was a director. I'd think, ah, it's easy: you just point the camera and do it. But this is more exciting. Roger's the driver. He's got the car, he's got the steering wheel. I've just go to be the passenger and sit back."
