Singer Annie Lennox has cancelled a performance at a United Nations (U.N.) event in Switzerland after a foot injury left her unable to travel.
The former Eurythmics star was due to appear at the Nansen Refugee Award Ceremony in Geneva on Monday night (01Oct12), but she has now pulled out of the commitment due to "an ongoing issue" with her left foot which has left her in terrible pain.
Lennox explains in a post on her Facebook.com page, "Sometimes I get searing electrical shocks flashing through the nerve endings. It's the kind of pain that makes you stop in your tracks. I'm sure that some of you will know what that's like. It rendered me unfit to travel, so I'm not able to fulfil my performance at the Nansen Refugee Awards tonight, which is hugely disappointing...
"Unfortunately it was just one of those bad strokes of luck that you can't do anything about."
Lennox insists she is resting up and hopes to be back at work very soon.
She adds, "Thanks to doses of ibuprofen and paracetamol, the situation is a lot better, and the 'flashing' has been subdued for now. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible!"
