Golden Globe winning director Warren Beatty and actress Annette Bening 's son Stephen has spoken out about his experiences as a member of the transgendered community in an online video for the WeHappyTrans website.
The clip shows the cheerful and enthusiastic 'writer and artist' answering in-depth questions about his situation, albeit talking extremely fast. Stephen was born Kathryn Elizabeth but started living as a boy since he was 14-years-old. Despite wanting gender reassignment, Stephen remains attracted to men and now lives as a homosexual male. In the video, the 20-year-old begins by introducing himself: "My name is Stephen. I identify as a trans man, a faggy queen, a homosexual, a queer, a nerd fighter, a writer, an artist and a guy who needs a haircut". He then goes on to talk about how his friends and his peers show most support for him being transgendered but does not mention his mother and father who have reportedly found it difficult to accept their daughter's transition.
He also talks about how he's glad he can go 'fem' without being thought of as female. "It's rare that my gender is misread based on my fem presentation, which I really appreciate", he says. He lists his style influences as Truman Capote and "any male-identified person who wears thigh-highs or garters".
