Annette Bening's new movie 'The Kids Are All Right' opened this weekend in 7 cinema's across North America. Co starring Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo the movie follows the lives of a lesbian couple who raise two children (Alice in Wonderland's Mia Wasikowska and Journey to the Center of the Earths Josh Hutcherson) following artificial insemination from an anonymous sperm donor. Everything is rosy until the children decide to find the biological father Paul played by MARK RUFFALO and bring him into their family life.
This unconventional family comedy directed by Lisa Cholodenko has already taken $505.000 at the box office according to, which is a staggering $72,143 per theatre making it the highest grossing movie per theatre so far in 2010, says Ben Fritz of the LA Times.
'The Kids Are All Right' was a great success at this year's Sundance Film Festival and also scooped the Teddy Award at this seasons Berlin International Film Festival, for Best Gay-Themed Narrative. 'The Kids Are All Right' has already brought in 50% of Bening's earlier 2010 release 'Mother and Child' which took 10 weekends to gross slightly over $1million.
Released by Focus Films 'The Kids Are All Right' is due to expand its release to a further 37 theatres across the U.S. and Canada this coming Friday 16th July.
