Meara, the mother of movie star Ben Stiller and wife of comedian Jerry Stiller, passed away on Saturday (23May15), aged 85, and funnyman Martin was among the first to offer praise.

Martin wrote, "Stiller and Meara have been a wonderful presence in comedy my whole life. Now Anne Meara is gone, and I salute her."

Her King of Queens co-star Remini also honoured Meara, writing, "Rest In Peace Anne Meara. Thank you for the laughs on and off the screen of The king Of Queens Your kind of Chutzpah will be greatly missed. It was an honor to know you. Our thoughts and prayers to her family."

Veteran comedian Lewis Black added, "I mourn the loss of Anne Meara. She was as delightful and gracious as she was hysterically funny. If there were Saints of Comedy she is one," while comedienne Rosie O'Donnell simply wrote, "with a heavy heart - she was so real."

Others who remembered Meara on Sunday included fellow comedians Michael MCKean, Andy Richter, Billy Eichner, Gilbert Gottfried and Sandra Bernhard, as well as singer Josh Groban and actors Eric Roberts, Natasha Lyonne and Marlee Matlin.
