It may be Christian Bale with the lead role in the forthcoming Batman movie but the latest trailer from Warner Bros. Studios shows that Anne Hathaway's Catwoman is going to be the one that gets tongues wagging in the lead-up to the film's release in July 2012. After all, it's Hathaway's voice that we hear first in the trailer, as she says "There's a storm coming" in her finest purr.

"You sound like you're looking forward to it," comes Batman's reply. "I'm adaptable." She proves that she's pretty useful in a fight, later on, never mind adaptable, and we see her delivering some brutal high kicks to some enemy or other, testing out the flexibility of that catsuit of hers. Catwoman doesn't just get the opening line of the trailer, though; she gets another fine moment at the end. "My mother warned me about getting into cars with strange men," she says to Batman, in the closing scenes of the trailer. "This isn't a car" he replies. For anyone that was wondering how well the normally lightweight Hathaway would be able to adapt, as an actress, to playing the badass Catwoman, this trailer alone should silence those doubts. There's an undercurrent of sexual tension between her and Christian Bale, we see her storming through the streets of an abandoned Gotham and she has a fine line in martial arts moves; there's not much more that you could ask for from a comic book heroine.

The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release on July 20, 2012 and also stars Joseph Gordon Levitt, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy and LIAM NEESON.
