Anna Nicole Smith's mother has hit out at the late model's ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead, accusing the photographer of cutting her out of her granddaughter's life.
Virgie Arthur, who was estranged from the busty blonde, challenged Birkhead for custody of little Dannielynn following the star's death from an accidental drug overdose in 2007.
Birkhead was awarded full physical and legal custody of the tot after he was proved to be the girl's biological father.
Arthur claims she has been banned from seeing Dannielynn ever since and she is yearning to have contact with her granddaughter, who turns four next month (Sep10).
She tells U.S. tabloid Globe, "The only time I get to see Dannielynn is when she's featured in a magazine or a video clip is aired on TV.
"People have no idea just how heartbreaking it is to be denied any contact with her. I send gifts every birthday and every Christmas, but they come back unopened. It's hard to believe that anyone could be so callous."
Arthur, 59, insists she isn't interested in laying claim to her late daughter's estate and all she cares about is winning access to the child so she can forge a relationship with her.
She adds, "The money's tainted for any greedy person who grabs it. All I want is to be able to hold my granddaughter, and I'm being denied that basic right.
"I'll never give up hope. One day I'll be able to hug Dannielynn and tell her just how much I love her."
