Amid much speculation that she is about to be fired as co-host of the Today show, Ann Curry took to the podium on Monday to praise her "great bosses, especially the exceptional men I get to work For Today." She quickly added, however, that she was "not sucking up, even though recent ratings might dictate that I should." Curry was referring to last week's ratings results indicating that ABC's Good Morning America had overtaken Today as the No. 1 morning show for the first time since 1996. Several observers have suggested that Curry will be scapegoated for the ratings fall. But Curry made no direct reference to the speculation as she accepted an award from the New York Women in Communications at New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel. "I'm old enough to remember how hard it was for women in our business 30 years ago," she said. "To get an award from other women in the communications industry means I've come full circle -- it's a really sweet award to me."
