Studio bosses behind Angelina Jolie's turn as Disney villainess Maleficent have hired a new director to re-work the beginning of the movie.

The Oscar winner transforms into Sleeping Beauty's evil nemesis in the upcoming project, which marks the directorial debut of Robert Stromberg.

Now executives at Disney have asked for the opening few scenes to be redone and have brought The Blind Side filmmaker John Lee Hancock to oversee the shoot.

Producer Joe Roth tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We asked (Hancock) to be on set. He's not directing. He wrote pages and I hired a first-time director and it's good to have him on set.

"The movie is gorgeous to look at and the last 75 minutes are really entertaining."

Luckily for Jolie, none of the new scenes will feature the star.
