BRANGELINA, the collective name for Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is surprisingly absent from a list of the top celebrity charity givers of 2010, reports Sky News. The high-profile couple have been recognised as much for their humanitarian work as for their acting in recent years, and this week they made a $2 million donation to a wildlife sanctuary in Namibia.
The couple travelled to the African country with their children over the Christmas period and spent a week at the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary. The couple's daughter Shiloh was born in the country and Jolie confirmed that the donation was made in the 4-year-old's name, adding, "We want her to be very involved and grow up with the understanding of her country of birth". The Hollywood couple are close friends with the directors and founders of the sanctuary and Jolie noted, "We have known Rudie and Marlice for many years and continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication to the people and conservation of the land and wildlife of Namibia".
Despite the donation, 'Brangelina' were absent from the list compiled by 'DoSomething.Org' that recognised the top celebrity charity givers of 2010. Topping the list was Lady GaGa, who has campaigned on issues such as the 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' policy and appeared at the 'Hands Up for Marriage Equality' event. Elsewhere, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Oprah Winfrey are also recognised for their efforts.
