Ahead of the release of her 10 year retrospective collection Songs 2003 - 2013, Norwegian songstress Ane Brun has unveiled her stunning interpretation of the classic track 'Feeling Good'. Previously covered by the likes of Nina Simone and Muse, Ane brings an undeniably unique touch to the song. Managing to sound both powerful and fragile at the same time, Ane's arrangement is one of subtle beauty.
Released on June 10th, Songs 2003 - 2013 is a celebration of Ane Brun's career thus far and features tracks from all of her studio albums, plus some new and rare material. The album includes some more unique interpretations, including covers of Cyndi Lauper's 'True Colours', Arcade Fire's 'Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels) and Alphaville's 'Big In Japan'. Also present are several duets with artists including José González and Ron Sexsmith - as well as Ane's orchestral interpretation of 'Don't Give Up' with Peter Gabriel - with Ane taking the place of previously untouchable Kate Bush.
Ane recently released the video for 'The Voice 2013', a new version of a track which previously featured on her 2005 album A Temporary Drive. Inspired by the manner in which the formerly gentle nature of the song had been reworked for live performances, Brun brought her band down to the studio during the recording of her acclaimed 2011 album, It All Starts With One, to capture the spirit of live shows. The video features live shots from London, Paris and Stockholm.
2013 is a huge year for Ane - not only will she be releasing this collection but her tour in November see's her headline London's The Forum, which will be the biggest venue she's headlined in the UK. Supporting her will be Scandinavian super-group Tonbruket, who will also be Ane's backing band, along with vocalist and keyboard player Nina Kinert and Ola Hultgren on drums.
Songs: 2003 - 2013 is released on 10th June through Ane's own Balloon Ranger label.
