Cuba-born actor Andy Garcia will be hailed for his contribution to cinema at this year's (06) ALMA Awards, when he picks up a special recognition prize. The ceremony, which honours artistic achievement by Hispanics in music, television and film, will see the THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD star lauded for a career spanning 25 years. He will be joined by Jennifer Lopez's husband, singer Marc Antony, who also receives special recognition. Other nominees include comedian George Lopez, Sin City director Robert Rodriguez and singer Shakira, the National Council of La Raza revealed yesterday (04APR06). The organisation launched the ALMA Awards in 1995. This year's show, which takes place on 7 May in Los Angeles, will be hosted by Desperate Housewives beauty Eva Longoria.
