Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is begging Madonna to star in a big screen adaptation of Sunset Boulevard, insisting she would be perfect for the lead role.
The British composer turned the classic 1950 film noir into a musical, which was staged in London in the 1990s - and now he wants to make that production into a film.
Sir Andrew is campaigning for the Material Girl to play Norma Desmond, an ageing former silent movie star, but admits he has yet to convince the 52 year old to sign up.
Speaking on British TV show Piers Morgan's Life Stories, he says, "I tell you who I would love to see play Sunset Boulevard. You know who would make a great Norma Desmond on screen? Madonna.
"She's the right age. I've not got through to her. She hasn't taken my call."
