Amy Winehouse 's dad, Mitch, has responded to the news that Lady GaGa would like to play Amy in a movie about her life. And he's responded by saying that Gaga would be welcome to the role, so long as she paid Mitch 10 million pounds for the honour, he told The Mirror. Mitch said he'd consider the prospect of Mother Monster taking on the role of playing his daughter in the movie but wasn't sure that her English accent would be up to scratch.
"If GaGa gives me 10million I will consider it," said Mitch. "I think it might be advisable to get an English actress, although GaGa has got the look about her. It is something which we might think about." He added "I don't know what her English accent is like but it's not just an English accent she would have to perfect - it's an English-Cockney-Jewish accent so she better start practising now. But she would be great." The fact that Mitch is discussing the possibility of a movie is progress in itself. He had previously said that he wouldn't consider a biopic of Amy's life to be released but more recently, seems to be changing his mind on the matter.
He has acknowledged though that it would be tough story to tackle onscreen, telling Associated Press "We don't want a sensationalized movie going out, you know, but equally there's no point in sort of massaging the fact that Amy was a alcoholic and drug addict; no point in pretending that didn't happen."
