The Libertines Set To Headline Charity Gig

  • 05 August 2016

The band, which includes Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, are scheduled to play the Unity Rocks concert at the 02 Academy in Brixton, London on 7 September (16) to promote the idea of an inclusive Britain, where people of all ages, races and political views can be together.

Unity Rocks was found by the band's drummer Gary Powell, who says in a statement, "The idea of 'Unity Rocks' is to bring people together, regardless of their creed, colour, religion or whether they voted Brexit (to leave the European Union) or not. This is not about politics or politicians, it's about unifying as a nation and working to make a united, more tolerant Britain; after all, the future is in our hands."

The gig, which will also include a set from British musician Rat Boy, will raise funds for U.K. charity Hope Not Hate, which promotes the same unity cause. It is the first of many Unity Rocks events to take place around the U.K., though no further details have yet been announced.
